Revise: Hitler becomes ChancellorAfter losing the chancellorship, Papen proposed a government with Hitler as Chancellor and himself as Vice-Chancellor. Papen believed that this arrangement would allow him and other conservatives to control Hitler while benefiting from the Nazis’ mass support. He persuaded Hindenburg to accept the plan.
