Revise: ReligionTwo especially important gods were Huitzilopochtli, associated with the sun and war and the patron of Tenochtitlan, and Tlaloc, the rain god. Rain enabled crops to grow, but Tlaloc was also believed capable of sending storms, floods and droughts. Worship therefore expressed both gratitude and the desire to avoid disaster.
