Screening

Screening offers another approach: looking for disease in people who may not yet recognise symptoms. In 2019, the NHS launched targeted lung health checks in selected areas for current or former smokers aged 55–74. Targeting a higher-risk group aimed to find lung cancer earlier rather than waiting for patients to become seriously ill.
