A computed tomography scan: a technology that uses X-rays to produce detailed images of the inside of the body.

Revise: Case Studies: Penicillin and Lung CancerCT scans produce more detailed images of the lungs. A contrast dye may be injected to make structures easier to distinguish. These images help doctors identify suspicious areas and investigate them further.
Keep diagnosis, treatment and prevention separate. CT scans help diagnose cancer; chemotherapy treats it; smoking restrictions aim to prevent it.
