Backed by gold and stable foreign currencies, it provided a longer-term basis for monetary stability. It circulated alongside the Rentenmark at equal value: the Rentenmark did not immediately disappear.
Date the Rentenmark to November 1923 and the Reichsmark to 1924. The currency made worthless by hyperinflation was the Papiermark.
