Policy of fulfilment

Stresemann pursued a policy of fulfilment. Rather than reject the post-war settlement outright, he cooperated with it to build confidence and obtain concessions. Diplomacy and economic recovery reinforced one another: improved relations reduced tensions and helped create conditions in which trade and investment could grow.
