A religious community governed by a prior or prioress, or the buildings occupied by that community.

William Pont de l’Arche founded an Augustinian priory in 1128. This was a community of priests living together, so the site also became a place of religious worship and communal residence. The community moved to Southwick in 1150, but its church survived as Portchester’s parish church.
