Revise: Responses to diseaseThe influenza pandemic of 1918–19 killed around 50 million people worldwide, including about 228,000 in Britain. Symptoms included fever, headaches and aching limbs. Many people recovered, but some developed pneumonia, which made breathing difficult and could quickly prove fatal.
