Revise: Developments in EducationLinda Brown, a Black child in Topeka, Kansas, had to travel to a Black school despite a nearer school being reserved for White children. Her family's challenge to the Topeka Board of Education received support from the NAACP. Taking the dispute through the courts offered a way to challenge the legal foundation of segregated education, rather than changing just one school's admissions policy.
