Revise: The First Secession and Early Plebeian Reforms (494-471 BC)The consuls sent a lictor, an attendant who enforced their orders, to deal with him. Volero appealed to the tribunes, but none came to his assistance. The consuls then ordered him to be stripped and prepared for a flogging.
Explain Volero’s uprising through his objection to conscription as an ordinary soldier, the tribunes’ failure to help and the crowd’s resistance to the lictors.
