Revise: Bolshevik RevolutionThe July Days show why growing discontent did not automatically produce a successful seizure of power. The demonstrators faced a government that could still obtain armed support, while the Bolsheviks did not yet have the backing of the Petrograd Soviet. For the party, July brought repression and a temporary setback rather than victory.
