Exclusion Crisis

The struggle continued through 1679–1681, becoming known as the Exclusion Crisis. Three successive Parliaments attempted to exclude James, but Charles refused to abandon his brother’s claim. He dissolved Parliaments rather than allow exclusion to become law.
