Revise: Establishment of DictatorshipThe Enabling Act was approved by the Reichstag on 23 March 1933 and became law on 24 March. It allowed Hitler’s government to pass laws without the Reichstag’s approval, including laws that departed from the Weimar Constitution. Although parliament continued to exist, it could no longer effectively control the government’s law-making.
