Defoliant

Operation Ranch Hand, which ran from 1962 to 1971, sprayed herbicides and defoliants to expose trails and bases and destroy food crops. Chemical exposure caused lasting harm, including birth defects after the war. This programme began before Johnson’s presidency but continued during his escalation of the conflict.
