Revise: Problems within the ColoniesBy 1713, it collected taxes on goods imported into British America and on goods exported from there to other places. These taxes were customs duties; the money collected was customs revenue. Parliament tried to increase this revenue between 1713 and 1741.
Distinguish intentions from results. Smuggling and weak enforcement limited the Acts’ effectiveness; passing a law did not guarantee that customs duties were collected.
