Boer

The Second Boer War, 1899–1902, was fought between Britain and the two Boer republics, the Transvaal and the Orange Free State, in southern Africa. At its heart was a struggle over who would control the region. British imperialists wanted to extend British power, while the Boers wanted to preserve their republics’ independence.
