Revise: Viking raidsIn 837, the Irish annals recorded one fleet of 60 ships on the Boyne and another of 60 on the Liffey. These forces plundered churches, forts and dwellings. Rivers now carried raiders towards targets beyond the coast, while larger expeditions required more coordination than the earlier small warbands.
