Revise: Human landscape elementsUrban cores concentrate people and economic activity into relatively small areas. Rural areas occupy much more land but have fewer people spread across it. The contrast is not absolute: rural residents may work in nearby cities, and rural settlements can contain businesses serving customers far beyond the countryside.
