Paper 2
Component 2
Moral uprightness: a commitment to behaving honestly and doing what is right.
Revise: Nancy LammeterNancy tries not to dwell on this loss because she believes she must accept what has been given. She is especially distressed by Godfrey’s continuing unhappiness at their childlessness and repeatedly examines whether she has fulfilled her duties towards him. This expresses her rectitude, or commitment to doing what is morally right, but it also leads her to scrutinise herself painfully.
