Moneylender

Shylock is a Jewish moneylender in Christian-dominated Venice. He lends three thousand ducats for three months so that Bassanio can pursue Portia, with Antonio responsible for repayment. The agreement gives Shylock a pound of Antonio’s flesh if the debt is not paid on time.
