Revise: Reinforcement and StiffeningSandwich construction places a lightweight core between two bonded outer faces. The faces resist the stretching and compression caused by bending, while the core keeps them separated and gives the structure depth. This produces high stiffness without the weight of a similarly thick solid sheet.
