Keep the order of a ratio clear: drawing : actual is not the same as actual : drawing.
Convert lengths to the same unit before writing or using a scale ratio. For a reduction scale of 1 : n, multiply drawing lengths by n to find actual lengths; divide actual lengths by n to find drawing lengths.
For a part-to-part ratio of 2 : 3, the first part is 2/5 of the total, not 2/3.
