Revise: Stock Forms and TypesFor powder metallurgy, the starting material is fine metal powder rather than a continuous length or flat piece. Powders are prepared and blended, pressed into the desired shape in a die, and then heated so that the particles bond. This heating stage is called sintering and takes place below the metal's melting point.
