Revise: Paper TypesA higher grammage means more mass for the same area, but does not by itself tell you the exact thickness, strength or finish. Compare the actual grade as well as its name.
Do not assume that every paper sold under the same name has identical properties. The grade, finish and grammage also matter.
Distinguish grammage from quality: a higher GSM means greater mass per square metre, not automatically better paper.
Distinguish sheet size, grammage and thickness: A4 describes size, gsm describes mass per square metre, and microns describe thickness.

Revise: Papers, Cards and BoardsGrammage measures mass per unit area, in grams per square metre, abbreviated gsm. An 80 gsm paper has a mass of 80 g for every square metre of sheet. It does not mean that each A4 sheet weighs 80 g.
