Revise: Shaping and Machining Metal ComponentsA counterbored hole has an enlarged cylindrical entrance with a flat-bottomed recess, produced with a suitable counterboring cutter. It accommodates a suitable fastener head below or level with the surrounding surface. Check recess depth against the chosen head; its straight-sided recess is different from the taper of a countersink.
