Paper 1
Revise: Modes of ConnectionFor this topic, the wired connection to recognise is Ethernet, and the wireless connections are Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Each suits different needs: a desktop computer that stays on a desk, a tablet carried around a shop and a wireless headset do not necessarily need the same type of connection.
For a comparison, discuss the same feature on both sides: Ethernet restricts movement because of its cable, whereas Wi-Fi allows movement within signal range.
Avoid absolute claims such as ‘wired connections cannot be intercepted’ or ‘Wi-Fi is always slower’. Wired connections are generally harder to intercept, and performance depends on the equipment and conditions.
