Paper 1
Revise: Need for CompressionStreaming services use compression to reduce the amount of data they need to send for the audio or video. This reduces the bandwidth required and makes it easier to keep playback flowing over a slower connection.
The maximum amount of data that can be transferred over a network connection per second, measured in bits per second.
Explain the causal chain: more devices transferring data at once → greater demand on shared bandwidth → slower transfers if capacity is insufficient.
Bandwidth is measured in bits per second, not bytes per second. Higher bandwidth increases potential transfer rate; it does not guarantee that every device achieves that rate.
