Revise: Purpose of RAMRAM is also volatile, meaning that its contents are lost when power is removed. This makes RAM suitable as temporary working memory, but not as the only place to keep a document permanently. If the computer loses power before you save your changes, the saved copy may still exist, but changes held only in RAM are lost.
