Random Access Memory: primary storage holding the programs and data currently being used by the computer.
Revise: Need for Primary StorageWhen you open a word processor and a saved document, the instructions and data needed for your work are loaded into RAM, a type of primary storage. The CPU can then access them quickly as you type and edit. Saving your changes stores the updated document in secondary storage for future use.
