Revise: Life-Cycle AssessmentsA life-cycle assessment (LCA) assesses the resources used and environmental impacts of a material or product throughout its life. It begins with obtaining raw materials and ends with what happens when the product is no longer useful. This is sometimes called a ‘cradle-to-grave’ assessment.
Include transport of raw materials and finished products, as well as transport for disposal or recycling.
Recycling reduces demand for new raw materials, but collection, transport and processing still use resources and energy.
