Revise: Graphene and FullerenesGraphene and fullerenes are made entirely from carbon. Their carbon atoms are joined by strong covalent bonds, but their overall shapes differ. Graphene forms a flat sheet, while fullerenes form hollow cages or tubes.

Revise: Carbon structures and simple polymersFullerenes are forms of carbon with hollow cage-like or tube-like molecules. Buckminsterfullerene, C₆₀, contains 60 carbon atoms arranged in a hollow, roughly spherical cage. Its pentagons and hexagons give it a football-like shape, with each carbon bonded to three others.
Use the overall shape as well as the rings to identify a structure: graphene is a flat sheet; fullerenes are hollow cages or tubes.
