Revise: Contact and Non-Contact ForcesA force is a push or pull acting on an object due to its interaction with another object. When you pull a sledge with a rope, the rope exerts a force on the sledge. When a desk supports a laptop, the desk exerts a force on the laptop.

Revise: Vectors and scalarsA physical quantity is something that can be measured, such as mass, speed or force. Its magnitude means its size. For example, a mass of 5 kg tells us how much matter an object contains.
An interaction between objects that can change motion or shape. Force is a vector quantity measured in newtons (N).
Name both objects in an interaction: write ‘the desk pushes upwards on the laptop’, rather than just ‘an upward force’.
Air resistance is a contact force: the moving object interacts with the air touching it.
Label each force arrow with the force type and the object it acts on. Use arrow direction and length to show direction and magnitude.
