Revise: RomeThe festival’s priests were the Luperci, drawn from noble Roman men. They gathered at the Lupercal, where there was an altar to Lupercus, and were divided into two groups for the rituals and subsequent run. The central religious roles were therefore restricted: the festival did not give everyone the same opportunity to officiate.
