Paper 2
The presence of people with different backgrounds and characteristics, including ethnicity, culture, religion and language.
Revise: Population Changes and MovementMigration is one influence on population diversity, but ethnicity and migration status are not the same thing. Someone from a minority ethnic background may have been born in the UK and belong to a family established here for generations.
Support explanations with examples, such as nineteenth-century Irish migration or the Windrush generation, rather than treating UK diversity as entirely recent.
Use specific examples to support descriptions of diversity, such as the Welsh language or Caribbean migration on Empire Windrush in 1948.
