Revise: Atmospheric PollutantsParticulates are tiny particles suspended in air. One example is soot: carbon particles produced when a carbon-containing fuel burns incompletely. Exhausts and smoke from burning fuels can carry these particles into the atmosphere.

Revise: Pollutants from combustionUnburned droplets or particles of hydrocarbon fuel can also contribute to particulate emissions. Carbon monoxide itself is a colourless gas, so it should not be confused with the visible soot.

Do not confuse global dimming with global warming. Global dimming is a reduction in the radiation reaching Earth's surface because particulates block or scatter it.
Link each pollutant to the correct condition or substance: limited oxygen → carbon monoxide and particulates; sulfur impurity in the fuel → sulfur dioxide; very high temperature → oxides of nitrogen from the air.
