In a displacement question, compare the two halogens: a more reactive halogen displaces a less reactive halogen from a halide solution. If it is less reactive, state that there is no reaction.
In a displacement reaction, compare the free halogen with the halogen in the metal halide. A more reactive halogen displaces a less reactive one, not the reverse.
