The physical change from a liquid to a gas at its surface, which can occur below its boiling point.
Revise: Interconversions Between StatesFreezing reverses melting, condensation reverses evaporation or boiling, and deposition reverses sublimation. Familiar water provides several examples: ice melts to form liquid water, liquid water freezes to form ice, and water vapour condenses into liquid droplets on a cold window.

Removing a liquid solvent from a solution by allowing it to become a gas.
Read each arrow in the direction shown before naming the change; for example, gas → liquid is condensation, not evaporation.
For liquid → gas, accept that both evaporation and boiling are changes of state, but do not confuse their conditions: evaporation occurs at the surface and can happen below the boiling point, whereas boiling occurs throughout the liquid at its boiling point.
