A change or reaction in which heat energy is taken in from the surroundings.
A change that transfers energy from the surroundings to the reacting system, usually causing the measured mixture's temperature to fall.
State the direction of energy transfer: in an endothermic change, heat energy is transferred from the surroundings to the reacting substances.
When calculating a temperature change, state whether the temperature rose or fell. A positive-sized difference alone does not identify an exothermic or endothermic change.
