Revise: Test for HydrogenLight a wooden splint, then hold the burning splint at the open end of the test tube. The splint should be held at the mouth rather than pushed deep inside, because the hydrogen needs oxygen from the surrounding air to burn.
State both the method and the observation: hold a burning splint at the open end of the test tube; hydrogen burns with a pop sound.
Do not confuse the tests: hydrogen uses a burning splint, whereas oxygen uses a glowing splint.
