Job production involves making one product or completing one order at a time, usually to a customer’s particular requirements. A tailor-made suit or a bespoke wedding cake is an example: its design reflects an individual customer’s choices rather than a standard product made for everyone.

A furniture maker might produce a made-to-order table with the customer’s chosen dimensions, materials and finish. Tailored wedding suits and individually designed jewellery are other examples.
