Flow production

Two methods are job production and flow production. The choice depends on what customers want, how many products are needed and the resources available to the business.

Flow production involves continuous production through a sequence of stages, often on a production line. In a bottling plant, for example, bottles move through filling, sealing and labelling stages. Each stage repeatedly performs its task.

Flow production means that items move continuously through a sequence of operations, usually along a production line. Each workstation carries out a particular task before the item moves to the next stage.
