A focusing defect in which distant objects appear blurred because light is brought to a focus in front of the retina.

Revise: Eye defectsA short-sighted person can usually see nearby objects more clearly than distant ones. This condition is also called myopia. Light from a distant object is focused in front of the retina rather than on it.
Do not reverse the corrective lenses: short-sightedness is corrected by a concave lens; long-sightedness is corrected by a convex lens.
