Revise: Selective Reabsorption in the NephronFiltration does not separate useful glucose from waste urea, so the nephron must recover substances the body needs before the remaining fluid becomes urine. This return from the filtrate to the surrounding blood is called selective reabsorption.
Do not describe filtration as removing only wastes. Small useful substances, including glucose, water and ions, enter the filtrate too; selective reabsorption then returns what the body needs.
