The return of a substance from fluid in the kidney to the blood.
Specification B3.3g, B3.3i · Paper 1 (Foundation), Paper 3 (Higher)
The movement of useful substances, including a controlled amount of water, from kidney tubules back into the blood.
The kidneys then return useful substances and a controlled amount of water to the bloodstream by .
Link each change in ADH to collecting-duct permeability, water reabsorption and the volume and concentration of urine.
Link each condition to all four stages: blood water level → water reabsorption → urine volume and concentration → water excreted.
Do not say that ADH makes the kidney tubules less permeable when the blood lacks water. Low blood water content causes more ADH, greater permeability and more water reabsorption.

Revise: Kidneys and Water BalanceIn both cases, filtration is followed by reabsorption; it is the amount of water returned to the blood that changes.
