Specification 8.12 · Paper 2
The number of times the heart beats in one minute, usually measured in beats per minute (bpm).
Link each response to its purpose: exercise increases the energy demand of muscles, so heart rate, breathing rate and breath volume rise to deliver more oxygenated blood.
For heart rate measured over part of a minute, scale the pulse count to a full 60 seconds.
Give units for measured quantities such as heart rate. Magnification is a ratio and has no unit.
