Revise: Genetic Testing and MedicineA false positive can suggest that a tested feature is present when it is not, causing unnecessary anxiety or further investigation. A false negative can fail to detect a feature that is present, giving false reassurance. A positive result for a risk-associated allele may also be misunderstood as a definite diagnosis, even when it only changes the probability of disease.
- Revise: Benefits and Risks
