Revise: DNA and GenomeAn organism’s genome is its entire genetic material—all its DNA, rather than just one chromosome or one gene. Think of the relationship as nucleus → chromosomes → DNA → sections of DNA called genes. Studying the whole human genome has given scientists a way to investigate genes across all the chromosomes, although studying it does not mean every gene’s effect is fully understood.
