ELISA

Definition

A test that uses antibodies linked to an enzyme to detect a particular antigen, often through a colour change.

To test plant material for a particular pathogen, a laboratory can use an antibody-based test such as ELISA. A prepared plant sample is added to a test well. An antibody linked to an enzyme binds if the target antigen is present.
