Revise: Cell Cycle and MitosisThe cell then divides, sharing its cytoplasm and organelles between two daughter cells. Each daughter cell receives one copy of every chromosome, so the two new cells contain the same chromosome information and are genetically identical to one another.
Do not say that the chromosome number is halved during mitosis. The DNA is copied first, so each daughter cell receives one complete set of chromosomes.
State all three outcomes when describing mitosis: two daughter cells, genetically identical to each other and the parent cell, and diploid.
