Revise: The brainThe cerebrum is the large upper part of the brain. Its outer layer is the cerebral cortex, which is divided into two hemispheres and is highly folded. Folding provides a large cortical surface within the limited space of the skull.
Do not confuse the cerebrum with the cerebellum: the cerebrum carries out higher-order processes, whereas the cerebellum coordinates movement and balance.
